In a world where video games continue to push the envelope, two entities are about to go head to head for the ultimate glory. Their predecessors have brought great changes to the industry, revolutionizing the way we think and play. Exclusive titles have been sold, accessories have been configured, and replay ability has never been higher. The stakes have risen, technology is improving, and with more and more support from fans…everything is on the line. Will Microsoft pull off the remarkable and remove the shame cast by the red ring of death? Can Nintendo push forth a new generation of fun that doesn’t get boring so quickly? Let’s find out on CONSOLE KOMBAT! (Dun, Dun, Dun, Dun Dun)
XBOX 720
VS.
WII 2
Round 1-(Title Diversity) FIGHT!
The 720 deals an earth shattering kick to the spine!
The Wii 2 delivers a jaw busting left hook!
The 720 goes for a solid round house kick!
The Wii 2 drops a body breaking suplex!
The 720 delivers 1,000 volts of pure white lighting!
The Wii 2 falls flat!Explanation for 720 Win: When we talk about audience, we’re generally speaking about people that actively support their gaming console of choice. The Wii 2 will most likely follow in its cousin’s footsteps and deliver high quality, family orientated, gaming for the masses. While this can be very lucrative, it won’t compare to the diversity offered by the 720. With the Kinect a solid success for the 360, and titles like Red Dead Redemption and LA Noire making a huge splash, anything Microsoft pushes will easily dominant the Wii. For the 720, they’ll most likely pull out all the stops and continually release games that are both controversial and fun. Remember the average gamer is usually an adult male, meaning they control the market fiercely. Therefore, games like Call of Duty and Madden will always out sell everything else.
Round 2-(Console Lifespan) FIGHT!
The 720 deals an earth shattering head butt to the face!
The Wii 2 delivers a jaw busting backflip kick!
The 720 goes for a solid punch to the gut!
The Wii 2 disappears!
The Wii 2 reappears with a grappling neck drop!
The 720 falls flat!
Explanation for Wii U Win: While the Wii may cater towards a family friendly market, it definitely understands the value of building a solid product. The Wii continues to be a console of excellent configuration, as no major problems are widely reported with its usage. Therefore, the Wii 2 will probably boast the same simple yet sturdy build. Easy disc loading access combined with GameCube controller inputs and SD drive capabilities made the Wii stand out a lot. Just imagine all that revamped with a ton of new features along with a sexy price tag. It will beat the 720 by a landslide if Microsoft doesn’t figure out a way to keep cooler chipsets running under stress. Nobody wants to drop a huge load of cash for something that isn’t stable.
(Noted Fact) The Wii only cost $250 and had no major hiccups. The 360 ran for about $300+ and broke down at least 50% of the time. Which do you think won consumers over in the beginning?
Round 3-(Replayability) FIGHT!
The 720 deals a ground pounding stomp!
The Wii 2 pushes a blast of ice cold air!
The 720 flips the Wii 2 like a pancake!
The Wii 2 tries to pull off a special attack and fails!
The 720 pulls off a stunning right punch!
FINISH HIM!
The 720 unleashes a fast paced hand and foot attack combo, before destroying the Wii 2 into a million pieces!
FATALITY!Explanation for 720 Win: The Wii is a great game when you’re bored and feel like playing classics that have been re-done by Nintendo. But overall it’s not THE choice console for a truly hardcore gamer. The Wii’s main goal has always been exercise and healthy gaming that keeps everyone happy and in shape. The Xbox consoles have always targeted the more “elite” crowd that loves hard hitting titles, fast paced game play, and control mashing fun. Therefore, the 720 has the highest replayability value because it WILL keep gamers entertained. Even the 360, which frustrated gamers to no end, managed a solid following despite its many flaws. The Wii just doesn’t have enough challenging titles or add ons to truly merit it a top notch console.
In the grand scheme of things, the 720 takes the cake, simply because it has the potential to overshoot all competition right now. If Microsoft revamps Xbox Live, gives the Kinect feature a more prominent base, and continues to release titles like Saints Row and Dead or Alive 4…Wii 2 can kiss the adult gamers good-bye. Fuzzy feel good titles can’t hold the attention span of someone older and more experienced in gaming. They eventually will want extras like movies, videos on demand, music, trailers, rewards...basically everything the Xbox already offers.
